***************************************************** Pastor Appreciation Idea: Make a Resolution About Pastor AppreciationBy mid January, most New Years Resolutions have already been compromised. That's usually because we expect a little too much from ourselves. But there is good news. Now that all your other resolutions are out of the way, make a new... easy... resolution: resolve that in 2008 you will show pastor appreciation for the entire year - not just in Pastor Appreciation Month. Here are some ideas to help. 1) Write birthdates and anniversaries on your calendar. Find out the dates for your pastor's wedding anniversary, his or her birthdate, his spouse's birthdate, and their children's birthdates. Write them on the calendar... go ahead... I'll wait. Plan to send a greeting card on each of these dates. 2) Purchase a box of blank or "thank you" greeting cards that you will use only for pastor appreciation. If you're like me you probably hear yourself periodically say something like, "I should send her a note," or, "I should let pastor know how much I appreciated his sermon." But if I don't have a card available to me right then, I usually don't do anything. 3) Read, How to Keep the Pastor You Love: Caring for Ministers & Their Families by Jane Rubietta. You and your pastor will be glad you did. See the My-Pastor Bookstore for more information. Now that's an easy resolution: write on your calendar, buy a box of cards, and read a book. ***************************************************** A New Pastor Gift Idea: Don't Give This to Your PastorBuy a copy of How to Keep the Pastor You Love: Caring for Ministers & Their Families by Jane Rubietta for each of your church leaders, or one copy they can share. One of the greatest gifts a pastor can receive is having leaders who know how to effectively show pastor appreciation. See the My-Pastor Bookstore for more information.
