A Haven of Rest
by: Anonymous

We enjoyed a wonderful visit to this cabin get-away. There are many, many hiking trails within a short distance - as well as the Guanella Pass. There are many options for scenic drives and/or fly fishing adventures along the South Platte River area. So much to see and do! Or, just nestle into the cabin and enjoy some solitude - or a little fishing in the pond just outside. The owners even provide fishing poles and all the license requirements needed.

Having a full kitchen was great and allowed us some creativity and economical meals. There was even a grill outside and a fire pit to enjoy! Yes, there are no curtains on the 'high' windows, but we just used a towel or pillow to cover our eyes on the mornings we chose to sleep in. A simple fix. The cabin was truly a sweet escape!

The nearby town of Bailey has a few nice restaurants. The Loaf 'n Jug just down the road provided a variety of food needs - without having to find a larger grocery store. The location really is the best of both worlds - private, yet near enough to most all of the basics you would want in just a few minutes. If too secluded...Denver is only about an hour away.

I would recommend this cabin to anyone interested in a Colorado escape, and sincerely appreciate the generosity of the host family. What a gift they have shared to so many!

A few practical pointers if you visit
by: Anonymous

We loved this place and plan to return! Keep the Ratsch's in your prayers (they own the cabin,) that God would give THEM times of rest, as well!

A few practical pieces of info that may help you:

One queen bed, one bunk bed with twin top and full bottom. (MAYBE a pull out couch as well??)

Cabin IS in a neighborhood-- lots of other cabins around, as well-- but each house has lots of space in between the others.

Small window, HIGH on the wall of master bedroom, had no curtains when we were there--and decorative space along ceiling let light in from living room to master bedroom-- so if light bothers you, you won't be able to sleep in (at least during the summer.)

We went hiking in the bushes behind the cabin-- down along a stream bed-- and nearly got run out of there by a bull moose! (God protected us by sending a neighbor to warn us that the moose was getting bothered by us being too close. We couldn't see the moose at all, ourselves!) The moose wandered through the yard of the cabin several evenings while we were there, too. A beautiful sight! Just be sure you keep far away!

A deer went through the yard also, and there were hummingbirds as well. Lots of wildflowers around, and fish swimming in the nearby pond.

A really good place to stay!!!
