I recall this incident that happened to me while preparing a sermon on Matt. 16:18-19.
We had a wonderful morning service and I had to prepare for the youth service in the afternoon. I had an errand to do at the grocery store in town some miles away so I hurried in my car to purchase what I needed. I did not realize that I kept my keys in my hand and when choosing one of the items I mindlessly laid them down and then went on my way. When I got to my car I had no idea where my keys where. I was locked out of my car! I searched for my keys in the store but could not find them. I finally had to call a service station to come and pick me and my car up and bring us to the church. So a flat bed truck loaded the car and I sat next to the driver and off we went to a waiting youth group and parents. What a sight we were as I got out of the truck and the car was unloaded. Needless to say I did not have the keys to my car or to the kingdom that day.
"And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven;" Matt 16:18-19a
