Honored
by: Scott & Alice

There are no words to describe the depth of respect and love we have for Rev. James Reed and Debbie Reed. They have been with us through very good times and very sad times. We have laughed and cried together. We were blessed to have Rev. Reed as our pastor and have missed our Sundays together. Debbie has been a lifelong friend and is always the first person I think of to share news or a funny story. Newcomerstown is truly blessed to have James and Debbie Reed.

A TRUE GIFT

I am not a writer of words....but I certainly will try to share my Love & Appreciation for Pastor Jim and Debbie. You see Debbie and I grew up together. We lived next door to one another for over twenty years & BEST FRIENDS. She was my Maid of Honor and I was hers...Our parents were best friends also....Debbie is truly a PASTOR'S WIFE..SHE WAS GIVEN THAT GIFT FROM GOD...I have seen that in her ALL my life (62 years) and Jim is a true Pastor...he HAS THE HEART AND MERCY FOR HIS SHEEP....Your church has been so blessed to have BOTH of these amazing human beings.
THEY LOVE ALL OF YOU SO VERY MUCH....
My husband Terry is a man of few words....however when I ask him his feelings concerning Jim and Debbie, he thought for a minute and said...."THEY HAVE THE HEART OF CHRIST"...its such an honor to be their friends and part of their family... We ask God to Bless your Church and to give Jim and Debbie MUCH WISDOM and WONDERFUL HEALTH...We are ALL SO BLESSED TO HAVE THEM IN OUR LIVES.....

It is a great honor to call Jim and Debbie friend. They are the type of friend that you feel comfortable calling at any time, knowing they are glad to be there for you.
I am always amazed to see how God will use us when we allow Him. It has been wonderful to see their ministry develop as it has because they were willing.
Looking forward to many more good times with them.

Thank you

Like most of us, I have been blessed to have encountered many really good people on this Good Earth.

Once in great while, there is a special positive "vibe" I feel when I am in the presence of a particular person or couple. That vibe is as real as the gentle breeze across my brow I experienced earlier today on this beautiful Friday Autumn afternoon.

I truly perceive a personal feeling of serenity and contentment when I am around Pastor Jim and Debbie.

It cannot be denied, sometimes folks I am compelled to deal with in business or social settings, kind of "drain" me...you know, just sorta suck the energy right out of me. One hour of dealing with those folks can completely exhaust me. Nothing wrong with those folks...they just take a lot out of me. I hope most of you, if honest, can understand what I am writing.

I am not a religious or spiritual person, but, just as much as some folks can drain me, Pastor Jim and Debbie have just the opposite effect on me...they truly invigorate my soul.

If God created Angels or angelic-like people, I'll wager God invested them with a dose of whatever He gave to Pastor Jim and Debbie. Because of my friendship with them, I feel that I have already experienced a little bit of what has been put in store for us on the other side.

I was saddened when Pastor Jim & Debbie left Columbus for Newcomerstown. In reading what you folks in Newcomerstown have written, I now see that it would have been selfish of me, to want to deprive you of all of the good things about the Reeds for which you are grateful. You deserve their gifts, too. I ought not be a piggy. They have already bestowed upon me, a full measure of their blessings.

Tears

The comments about Pastor and Debbie that have been listed on this site are very true. Both are very caring and thoughtful people. I could add my long list of the aid and comfort they have shown me, but I decided to take a different route. I want to talk of their tears. We know that tears are a physical outlet for what we are feeling inside. They show tears of compassion for the sadness and hurting of others. They cry when talking of how God intervenes in the lives of His people, doing the impossible. Tears well up in their eyes as they talk to the Lord, or they talk about the goodness of the Lord,or as they tell us what the Lord had said to them. They have tears of sorrow for those who are lost because they have chosen the world instead of God. But the tears that touch our hearts the most, is when they weep because they are just plain homesick for heaven.

Their tears comfort us; we know that they care for their flock. Their tears teach us; we learn to show compassion to others. Their tears make us feel the love that God has for us. Through their tears, they create in us the desire to know God in the way they know Him. The Bible says in Psalm 126:5-6, "Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy. He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him." May it be so!

How my life was changed
by: Bob@Donnie

At 42 years old I never was at a church service. I was never made to go to church as a kid so I never went. I always believed in God but knew nothing about it. I tried to read the bible from time to time but never understood much about it. In February of 2009 I was sitting in a recliner at my house watching TV and out of the blue I looked over at my wife and said I want to go to church on Sunday. In shock she asked me to repeat what I said. At the time I had no idea were all this was coming from so I told her again. She asked me where I wanted to go. I knew Joe and Pat were going to Churches of Christ of Christian Union so I said lets start there and we would go to some different ones until we find one we like. We walked in the door on a Sunday morning in February of 2009 and sat down and heard my first sermon. I listened to Pastor Reed give his sermon and had no idea what he was saying when it was over. I know now it wasn't him, it was me being lost. Now I ask questions at an alarming rate to Pastor Reed, Larry Miller, and Jay Rock and not one of them have turned me down. Words can't express enough how much Pastor Reed has changed my life. I'm still learning, but I'm not lost. I realize now that in February of 2009 it was God telling me to go to church. And here it is September of 2010 and we haven't went to check out another church because I don't feel that we have to because of Pastor Reed and the congregation it feels like home. Thank you to the Churches of Christ of Christian Union. Bob&Donnie LaFollette

Real Christian Soldiers
by: Jim and Kathie

What an amazing opportunity this page allows those of us who have been blessed to know Pastor Jim Reed and his beautiful wife Deb!

Our little church on the corners of West State and McKinley is the most welcoming, giving, caring and Christ loving place I have ever been!

Pastor Reed has a way with a message that makes everyone in the room feel like they are part of it
He is always there with a shoulder to lean on and a comforting prayer...morning...noon..or night I know I can depend on him as a friend and a Spiritual Leader!

His very busy yet always "not too busy for you" wife...she is priceless by my standards! Always giving, always praising the Lord, always a soldier for Christ and always a friend.

Thank you Pastor Reed

What a woderful way to be able to share thoughts and feelings about someone as special as Pastor James Reed right here in Newcomerstown. He has proven to this community that his first and foremost desire is to see the lost come to know Christ. He is not about "me" as many pastors seem to be these days. It is refreshing when we are around Pastor Reed for you do not hear him talk about himself and what he has done or doing. He brings a presence of God with him when he talks with you. We say "Thank You Pastor Reed" for being a man who cares so much about others. We know you love us and pray for us. You are truly a man of God and serving Christ is what it is all about. Newcomerstown is a far better community because you answered the call and became a part of us.

God Bless you and Debbie as you labor for HIM!

Wonderful People

Pastor Reed and Debbie are very caring and loving people. I have been to many churches where I have not been made to feel welcome because I do not have the best church clothes or a great deal of money to give. Pastor and Debbie make sure everyone knows they are welcome.

Pastor Reed and Debbie
by: Lisa

Pastor Reed and Debbie were the first ones my family met when we moved to Newcomerstown. We were able to bring very little with us. Without being asked or knowing much about us, Pastor and Debbie gave us food, blankets, and heaters.

Pastor Reed and Debbie have love and concern for all people which is evident in his sermons, her beautiful piano playing and singing, and in both of their daily lives.
